Today I write while waiting for my chicken quesadilla to fry up. No worries, I haven't abandoned my healthy eating - there is no oil involved and minimal cheese made with 2% milk and even the tortillas are made with a low fat option (I'm guessing they just use less fat because the ingredients are very similar to the other tortillas). I also have a nice quinoa and avocado salad to accompany my 'dillas.
Today I've been thinking about so many things. We (Mira and I) had play group today, and boy was it the most exciting one yet! Babies, babies, babies EVERYWHERE! We had ALL of our normal people plus three extra moms and 4 extra kids. That's oh let's see: 9 moms, 1 mother in law, 1 caretaker and 11 children. Whew! It was exciting! Those kinds of things are what life are all about. So much sweetness and growth going on that one could never pretend to know everything that's happening. Love.
On a more serious note, a friend of mine's mother from high school... First let me say that this woman was a saint. So much so that I remember my friend throughout high school found it infuriating that her mother never did or had done anything bad her whole life. It was just imaginable! She was kind to her family, kind to her students as a teacher, kind to her co-workers, kind to the people on the street, and very kind to me. Kind to me in a time when I needed it most. I, unfortunately, as some of us do when we are young if we are not saints, was not so kind to her in return. By all accounts that I know of, she forgave me though I never apologized to her directly. This last January/February, I spent about a month with my family in Oklahoma. We drove. On the way back home, we would pass through Joplin. I had made arrangements to stop. But I got the flu, and so I decided it best to just pass through without stopping. No saying "Hey, how ya been?" to old friends, no "Wow, that's new!" or "Gosh, it really is good to see you" and certainly no "I am so sorry to you"s. And I am so sorry for that.
Everyone says all the time "Don't pass up your chances" and I'm saying I know for a fact: you will regret it if you do.
